Clinpath Pathology

Background

Clinpath Pathology commenced with Murray Bridge Day Night Surgery when our business opened in 2015.  We currently have 2 phlebotomists working and are open onsite Monday to Friday 8 am to 1 pm.   We have courier service pickups during the day.  Most services are bulk-billed to our patients holding Medicare cards. There may be a fee for some specialised tests not covered by Medicare.  Please always ensure your form is signed by the doctor and by yourself to ensure maximum benefits.

What do I need for my test?
  • For most tests, an appointment is not required and on arrival at the clinic, you will be attended to in order of arrival.
  • You will need to bring with you the pathology request form which your doctor and yourself have signed.
  • You need to bring your Medicare card

Basic/Annual Fasting Tests
  • Fast for 8 hours minimum
  • The most common tests that require fasting are lipid testing including cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL/LDL, glucose, and Glucose Tolerance Tests.
  • Please maintain an adequate intake of plain water during the fasting period.
  • Tea, coffee, and soft drinks must not be consumed.
  • Smoking should also be avoided
  • If you need to collect urine for your tests you need to collect the first specimen for the day.  Please grab a yellow specimen jar from the front counter before you leave.
On arrival

On your arrival at the clinic, please progress to the front counter and take the next number available. Press the doorbell and then the staff will know you are waiting.

Faecal Occult Blood Test (FOB)

Follow the directions in the packet which is provided to you. Female patients who are menstruating should delay the test until the bleeding has completely stopped to prevent a false positive reading. Keep your specimens together in the fridge until you have collected them all. Remember to bring your pathology request form for the test with the sample. Pathology does not accept the test without the request form.

Scheduled Appointment Times

Call the pathology service your Doctor has referred you to so you can make an appointment for the following tests and for any special instructions:

  • Glucose Tolerance Test
  • Lactose Tolerance Test
  • Urea Breath Test/Helicobacter Pylori Breath Test
  • Holter Monitor
  • 24 hour Ambulatory BP monitor
  • Any other tests you are unsure about

Results and Investigations

Routine test results are generally available within 2 days of collection. However, some tests are more involved and may take longer.  To assist you in organising a follow-up appointment with your doctor, we encourage you to ask your doctor or pathology nurse when the results will be available.

It is our very strong preference that patients make appointments to follow up on the results of any tests undertaken, either face-to-face or telehealth.  The clinic receptionists can assist you with scheduling a time when you come for your pathology collection.
