Wendy commenced her career in the healthcare industry as a nurse within small rural hospitals throughout SA and from this experience gained a strong and inherent passion to help others and be deeply empathetic to people. Now, she endeavours to embed these personal qualities to deliver quality support and services that are culturally inclusive and safe for all in the Coorong and Mallee regions. Having been raised in the area, growing a family, and working the land she understands rural people and their unique needs. This is all underpinned by her passion, reliability, and theoretical understanding of concepts gained through her tertiary studies and employment in the local government and healthcare industries.
Wendy’s varied lived experiences make her a strong representative and advocate for rural women and their families. She brings this experience into decision-making and recommendations to ensure service delivery reflects the needs of the people she lives and works with. This unique perspective is paramount to also ensuring services based in metropolitan areas are rural community-focused, which she believes is sometimes overlooked but critical to ensuring the provision of quality, responsive healthcare support to all.
